Bangkok


The capital city of Thailand can be a hustle and bustle with its busy streets and jam packed highways. From first impressions you would think the city is pretty modern and high tech which it is actually steadily becoming.  But really it is a city that is still set in old tradition and lead by the true Thai Culture.  For the average tourist Bangkok is only good for a few days, see a few sights, namely the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo and do some shopping in the numerous shopping multistory shopping complexes.

 

Sightseeing in Bangkok is limited to the numerous Temples, the Grand Palace, the National Museum, and a Safari Parks. Amongst the temples is Wat Phra Kaeo home to the famous Emerald Buddha located in the grounds of the breath taking Grand Palace. A day trip here with a tour guide to spread a bit of light on the history and culture is well worth taking. Another temple worth a look is the much visited Wat Pho where traditional Thai massage courses are held by some of the leading therapists in Thailand. The National Museum is also another sight worthy of a day out where more culture and many of Thailand historical artifacts remain. There are numerous Crocodile farms and Snake shows to be seen in and around Bangkok but one worth visiting is Safari World, a great day out for all family and there is plenty of wild life on offer.

 

Shopping in Bangkok is simply fantastic from the cheap market stalls which can be found in many of the Bangkok suburbs and the numerous multistory complexes with designer name stores. It is also possible to find stalls on the water in that of the famous floating market at Damnoen Saduak 110km south-west of Bangkok. Entertainment is one of the main reasons tourists head for Bangkok. From traditional Thai dancing whilst enjoying your evening meal to the insane National Sport of Muaythai you can find something that tickles your fancy. Its lively nightlife with wide variety means there is something for every ones taste. Upbeat and trendy clubs and discotheques are scattered around the various districts of Bangkok, Q Bar being a popular one with many westerners located just off Sukhumvit Road. Sex-shows and go-go bars are plenty in the seedier areas like Pat Pong and Soi Nana. So if something sounds to your liking it is likely you will visit Bangkok at least once on your travels to Thailand, even if it is just in passing as it is the main Gateway into the Kingdom.
